Chepana is a ‘modern beach house’ inspired home recessed into a steep east facing slope overlooking Middle Rock Beach. The three storey open plan home captures full solar access and coastal ocean breezes to naturally warm and cool the house throughout the seasons.

There are variable private and public outdoor living spaces to all floors. The upper floor includes large deck platforms that are an extension of the indoor living areas and addresses the 180 degree ocean views to the east.

The material palette of timber, steel and concrete creates a simple and timeless backdrop for the interiors and landscaping. The constrained exterior colour palette of white and grey, typical of a contemporary beach house, provides an individual sense of place for the new home amongst the varying colours of surrounding natural environment.
